The A. Lipniunas Cultural - social youth Center is non - governmental, non - political youth center for all the Panevezys region. The goal is to initiate and to develop activities* for youth in all the region of Panevezys. This center works since 1993.
*ACTIVITIES:
The A. Lipniunas Cultural Center works as the umbrella organisation for Catholic youth in the diocese of Panevezys. We make contacts, organise various seminars for youth leaders, and disseminate important information for youth. Within 16 years, we have a very wide range of volunteer teams and a very interesting life experiences and stories. Now, active young people in the youth center is about 50. And we are a total of about 400 members.
“ Children our Future” Project is a weekend day camp for children from socially disadvantaged families. The goals of this project
Daily activities in the youth Center:
• Youth music group;
• Also guitar and singing lessons;
• Taize group, that prepares youth for the European Taize meetings;
• Volunteer meetings, for those who participate in the “Peer to Peer” and “Children – our Future” Projects;
• The meetings of the youth center community: watching various movies, discussions, Psichological helping, parties
• Motivating youth for voulunteering in the local area also etc.
Activities, we organise:
• Summer camps for children and youth;
• Seminars for youth leaders;
• Various celebrations for youth in the region of Panevezys.
• We participate into a programme „Youth“ (Youth exchanges, EVS, youth coaching and creating partnership links.
A. LIPNIUNAS
Our center is named after father Alphonsus Lipniunas, a priest of the diocese of Panevezys, who during his life was very interested in young people and organised activities for them. He died in 1945 after imprisonment in a concentration camp in World War II.
