The project will take place mainly at our office in oslo (500.000 inhabitants)
Some activities (Meetings, conferences, ski events etc) will be all over the country of Norway, often at small places. The volunteer will have the possibility to visit several parts and communities in Norway.
Proposed activities for EVS volunteers:
Learning Norwegian language
Learning about sport organisation
Learning about Nordic ski sport
The volunteer will work mainly at our office, making informations, invitations, website updatings, statistics, taking part in seminars and information meetings etc.
Outside office there wil be seminars, courses, probably some training camps, and many events/skiraces to follow (and also work within these).
If the volunteer wants it, we will make connection to a ski club for evening and/or weekend activities (training).
The examples below contain weekend work. That does not mean that all weekends will be working weekends, probably every 3rd weekend will contain work.
All documents that the volunteer will write or compose or publish, will be supervised by colleagues.
Example of work in one week in October:
Mon-tue at office:
- composing the text and layout for the "Trenerklubben" magazine (internal magazine for 200 members)
- composing the "season information on the federation website
- registering of new "FIS-codes" (athlete registrations for international system)
- writing and publishing invitation for "TD-seminar" in November
wed Trondheim: Taking part in meeting "Trenerklubben" (short board meeting and evening seminar")
thu at office: Making clear documents for weekend meetings
fri-sat- sun at some hotel be assistant at the "autumn meetings" of Cross Country
Example of one week in December:
Mon-tue at office:
- publishing results from last weekend on website
- make minutes from "TD-seminar" (write and publish)
- registrations of FIS-codes (like October) and "brikker" (personal chips for timekeeping)
wed somewhere in oslo: internal seminar for the employed colleagues in the office (30 person), and we will also have the "pre-christmas party".
thu at office: making clear support/equipment for the race in the weekend, and travel to ski resort
fri-sat-sun at a ski resort: assist by a cross country FIS event (checking up "FIS-codes", transponders etc, publishing results on website) (there will also be time for skiing activity).
Example of one week in February:
Mon: publishing results and cup standings from last weekend (on website).
tue: Meeting with the "Ung I Sporet" group: preparing the "Langrennscross" in the weekend.
wed: Half day skiing in Nordmarka, and half day different things at office
thu: Travel to a ski resort somewhere in Norway
fri sat sun: Assist by the main National Youth Camps (15-16 yrs): Work in the group that is organising and carrying out "Langrennscross" race (500 participants). And also some time for skiing.
NB
World Ski Championships in Holmenkollen will be organised In February 2011: If the volunteer has interest for it, we can find some work in the World Championship organisation (for 1-3 weeks).

Mon-tue at office:
- Working with Cross Country Strategy plan for 2010-2012
- Publish minutes from last meetings of cross country committee
- Making web presentation of the athletes for coming year´s national team
wed- thu at some hotel near Gardermoen: Assist during "Nordic Cross Country meeting": Making minutes etc
fri-sat-sun: Participation at trainer seminar (somewhere in Norway), as participant and/or secretary (minutes).
Volunteer profiles and recruitment process:
Our volunteer must have an interest for ski sport (or sports in general), and must like to work with it.
The volunteer should be interested in communicating with people, and must be interested in learning Norwegian language (almost all our work will be in Norwegian).
Some computer knowledge will be required (not more than the knowledge of any of to-day´s young people).
Risk prevention, protection and safety:
The volunteer will be taken care of like ordinary employees, according to Norwegian law (Arbeidsmiljøloven).
That means regularity concerning duration of daily work, insurance concerning health and accidents, and other items protecting Norwegian employees.
The undersigned will be the supervisor ("mentor") of the volunteer.
Exptected duration of EVS: 6 to 12 months.
