This year has been marked by the anniversary of one of the most memorable and important events in the human history: 60 years have passed since the Victory day and the end of the WWII. This war touched somehow every family not only in Europe, but also in Asia and North America. I now that the bulk of the facebookers are young people, so I address mostly to you, still not disregarding the others: all of you have grandfathers and grandmothers, or just elderly people leaving next door. Their life was hard and they remember a lot. Some of them participated in the war actions, defending our freedom and independence of today. Others were too small, but still, even being children during the war, they have preserved in their memory those 6 grievous years that changed everything in the world for good and all. In some years these people who suffered so much will leave us, and their memories will pass away, too. But now they are still able to tell us everything they remember.
Their memories are precious, and the only thing I am asking you to do is to find an hour to visit your people or your neighbour, those whom you know and who remembers the war. Ask them HOW it was. Ask them, what they feel about it.
You can record your conversation and just send the file, or you can print what you’ve caught from the talk or the things you’ve written down. You can even make a video – it’s up to you, how to complete the task, if you want to, but when everything is done, send the doc, sound or video file to the mailbox [email protected]. In your letter, please, indicate the full name of the person you’ve talked to, and his/her year of birth, write also your full name, age city and the country, as you’ve also contributed to the project. You are always welcome to send any feedback to the same mailbox.
It may seem surprising to you, but even in the 21st century not all the people are covered by the social networks, so tell your friends about the project, let them also participate in it! Let’s make it a global action for the sake of the world peace!
Remember, please, that it is a voluntary project, and it is your participation! It’s up to you to make some effort and preserve the history, thus contributing to the clear future of all the nations and keeping peace on the planet.

As a result of the project, a site is going to be created in half a year after the beginning of the project, and it will be the most “alive” encyclopedia of the war. The former USSR, Europe and USA are already in action! Let’s make it together! Hurry up! I hope we’ll be able to launch the site already in May 2011, just before the Victory holidays.

Please, send your file(s) in the native tongue. We’ll be most grateful to you if can translate it also into English. However, if you’re not sure about your English, just send your report as it is, remember, that it’s your contribution! We’ll try to do our best and provide English translation for all the original documents, preserving both on the site.
